Fred Hollows was a doctor who specialised in the treatmeant of the diseases of the eye.

To do this he had to travel to England and there he won a prize

as one of the top students.

When Fred Hollows returned to Australia he spent a lot of his time studying and treating an eye disease called 'trachoma', this disease would cause blindness if it wasnt treated quickly enough.

Fred Hollows was born in Dunedin, New Zealand.

He immagrated to Australia on the 5th of June 1965.
