Victor Chang
Victor Peter Chang was born on the 21st November 1936 in Shanghai to Australian-born Chinese parents. He grew up in Hong Kong before moving to Australia. In Hong Kong he attended primary school in Kowloon Tong. When he was 12 his mother died of cancer. This is when he decided to become a doctor.
He moved to Australia in 1952 to complete his secondary school. He attended Belmore Boys High School and completed his secondary education at Christian Brothers' High School.
Victor Chang was one of the best heart surgeons ever to have lived. He first came to the public eye in 1984 when a little girl called Fiona Coote needed a heart transplant. Since then he performed over 100 transplants. He said "I always get upset when I do this, because someone has to die for someone else to live ... ". He loved making technical things and he started to make the first ever mechanical heart. one the 4 of July 1991 some people demanded that he give them 3 million dollars. when he refused they shot him without any remorse. At the time of his death his artificial heart was nearly finished.
