Caroline Chisholm

Caroline Chisholm was born in 1808. Her maiden name was Jones, and she married in 1832 to Archibald Chisholm. Sadly she died in 1877 at the age of 69. Caroline Chisholm was born in England. She immigrated to Australia in 1838. Caroline and Archibald immigrated to Australia because they thought they would have a better life. They immigrated on rough seas by boat but made it safely to Australia.

Caroline Chisholm impacted on Australias' history because when she arrived in Australia she saw how women in Australia were being badly treated , so she decided that she must do something about what was happening. She set up a Women Immigrant Home in Sydney. Caroline Chisholm was very successful and was rewarded with a medal and, was put on one side of the five dollar until Queen Elizabeth was put on twenty years later.
