Caroline Jones Chisholm


 Who she was:
Caroline Chisholm was a women who wanted to encourage migrants to Australia.   Caroline was a women who wanted to help people.  Caroline was a mother of three young boys.  She was husband to Archibald Chisholm.  Sadly Caroline died in her home town of England on the 30th of March 1877.  By the time that Caroline Chisholm Died she was very poor and almost certantly forgotten.

Where she  came from:
Caroline was born in England near Northampton in May on the 30th in 1808.

When she arrived in Australia:
She arrived in Australia in 1838 to set up homes for women that wanted to come and live here in Australia.

Why she immigrated to Australia:
Caroline came to Australia to set up homes for women that wanted to come and live with thier families in Australia.  She arranged free boat trips to australia for families.
    How she immigrated to Australia:
Caroline Chisholm returned to Australia aboard the Ballarat in 1854 and toured the Victorian goldfields.

How she impacted on Australia's history:
Cariline impacted by creating more welcoming conditions for newcomers to the country.  Caroline Chisholm took some of these women into her own home.
